Second Annual Foot Pursuit 5K

The second annual Foot Pursuit 5K will be held on Saturday, June 4th, 2011.  All the proceeds from this event go to the Special Olympics.

Last year we had a great turn-out with 150 runners and raised over $12,000 for the Special Olympics.  This year we added a noncompetitive 2 Mile Walk event for people who want to support the event and the Special Olympics, but would rather walk a shorter distance.  The 2 Mile course is stroller friendly.

This year we also upped the ante by offering Dri-Fit Performance t-shirts (in male and female specific sizing) to everyone who registers by May 20th.  We will try to accommodate participants who register after May 20th, but no guarantees.  Please register early!!

This year, Chipotle is sponsoring the Foot Pursuit 5K.  The first 150 people to register for the event will be receive a special treat on the day of the race, courtesy of Chipotle.   Register early!!

The 5K course starts and finishes at the Huachuca Mountain Elementary School.  A section of the 5K course follows the scenic Garden Canyon Park Trail, which is not suitable for pets or strollers.  As a result, pets and strollers are prohibited in the 5K race.

Paul Valentin holds the 5K course record with a time of 19:05!
Briana McCloskey holds the women's course record with a time of  22:13!
Alex Roy holds the course record for LE men with a time of 20:37!
Lori Esparza holds the course record for LE women with a time of 34:18!

The 2 Mile Walk course also starts and finishes at the Huachuca Mountain Elementary School.  This is a noncompetitive event and is suitable for strollers.

Registration fees are $25 for the 5K Race and the 2 Mile Walk, but the fees for the 5K race will increase to $30 after May 20th.  You can register in person at the Sierra Vista Police Department, 911 North Coronado Drive Monday through Friday (8AM-5PM) or you can register online through Active.com by clicking on the link below.

Online registration ends on May 31st, but you can still register in person at the Sierra Vista Police Department until Friday, June 3rd.  Register by May 20th to ensure you get one of the new and very cool Dri-Fit Performance T-shirts!

Check-in for both events will be from 6:00 AM to 6:45 AM.  Both the 5K Running Race and the 2 Mile Walk will start promptly at 7:00 AM.  A 1/2 mile race for Special Olympics athletes will start at 8:00 AM, and the awards ceremony will immediately follow the Special Olympics event.

Packet pickup will be at the Sierra Vista PD on June 3, 2011, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, or the morning of the race from 6:00 AM to 6:45 AM

Race day parking is available across the street from the venue at the Sierra Vista United Methodist Church.
